Professor Derick Raal is Professor and Head of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. He is particularly interested in lipid disorders, especially familial or inherited hypercholesterolaemia (FH). His Unit has one of the largest cohorts of homozygous FH patients in the world and is involved in research with novel medication for the management of these patients.
